A cycle plays its bars in order, then repeats. Each bar keeps its own time signature, accents and subdivision.

A metronome that speeds up as you play
Cue The Click is a free practice metronome built around one idea most metronomes miss: getting faster on purpose. Set a starting tempo, a target, and a step, and it lifts the tempo for you, a few BPM every few bars. It always moves on a downbeat, never mid-bar, so a run is never yanked forward halfway through. It’s the tempo ramp a lot of players build by hand, done automatically.
Train your inner clock
The hardest and most useful mode drops the click entirely, for whole bars or at random, and fades the pendulum with it, so there’s nothing to lean on. When the click comes back, you find out whether you drifted. It’s the closest a metronome gets to testing the time you actually keep, not the time you copy.
Correct meters, real accents
Compound time is handled properly: 6/8 is two dotted-quarter beats, not six, and the tempo is quoted in the beat’s true note value. Tap any beat to make it accented, soft or silent, so in 5/8 or 7/8 you choose which beat carries the weight. Swing is offered only where it’s defined (even subdivisions), with named ratios, and a small synth drum kit can play under the click to make practice less clinical.
Odd and mixed meters
Odd and mixed meters get their own practice: build a cycle of up to four bars, each with its own time signature and accents, such as 6/8 then 3/4, or a two-bar clave. The eighth note stays steady between bars the way a score reads, or you can keep the beat steady instead.
Cycles of bars
Add a bar under the beats, tap its time signature to change it, and tap its beats to set the accents. The tempo ramp and the inner clock can count bars or whole cycles.

Free, no sign-up, works offline
It runs in the browser and installs to your phone’s home screen as an app. No account, no ads, no download from a store, and once loaded it works with no signal: on a train, in a basement practice room, backstage. Just open it and play.
It will stay that way. If it has earned a place in your practice, you can leave a tip on Ko-fi (opens in a new tab). Tips pay for the domain.
